November, 1996 -- First Trip to the Vet!
| Appointment Day | Dark and stormy; a real mess of a Saturday morning! |
|---|---|
| The Trip | Rain slashing the windows of the pick-up. Me, huddled in a corner of the pet carrier in the front seat. WHERE AM I GOING? Why did we leave the warm coziness of overstuffed couches, electric bed blankets, and soft shag rugs? |
| Vet's Waiting Room | Cold, noisy (Will somebody shut up those yapping dogs in the back!), antiseptic smells. I've got a bad feeling about this! |
| Examination Room | Warm hands dragging me out of the carrier. Cold, hard table (Where's the couch?). This is not fun! |
| Examination | Smiling, pleasant humans; but OOOOH, the poking and prodding, and in the most embarrassing places (Hey, get those Q-tips OUT of my ears! And don't come near me again with that plastic do-hickey--I'll just KEEP my roundworms)! I WANT TO GO NOW! |
| The Trip Home | Merciful quiet--no more rain, soft music from the radio. Me, back in the carrier, limp with relief! |
| Home | Carrier door open; me cautiously sniffing, listening, slinking out. YES! It's really home! Where's the couch! Boy, am I glad that's over. I must have a serious talk with my humans. These kinds of trips are NOT good for my psyche--or my dignity! |

"A cat's got her own opinion of human beings. She don't say much, but you can tell enough to make you anxious not to hear the whole of it."
